Statement
I paint society when it stops pretending to be orderly
Nicolás Lapadula paints people and the relationships between them. Faces and figures share the canvas, overlap and compete for space. Differences in scale express power, ego and the desire to be recognised.
Growing up in Caracas shaped his interest in how people adapt when the structures around them become uncertain. His paintings observe the tensions of living together and leave room for the viewer’s own interpretation.
He began working in acrylic in 2018 and added enamel on iron in 2022. His work extends across paintings, resin sculptures and murals, often at a scale that surrounds the viewer.
